Wandering Wednesday: King Tut Day



November 4th is King Tut day which celebrates the date of the discovery of King Tutankhamen's Tomb. 

Over 3,000 years ago, King Tutankhamen became the King of Egypt at the age of 9.  King Tut's rule lasted a short nine years, from 1333 B.C. to 1324 B.C.   He died at the very early age of 19 and the cause of his death is uncertain. Murder and an innocent accident are the two main theories. The tomb of Egypt's "child king" was discovered on November 4, 1922. The tomb was discovered nearly intact in Egypt's Valley of Kings.

I have never celebrated this day, and I found it by Google.  It's interesting though AND it's nice to finally get back to a random Wandering Wednesday.  Besides... who doesn't like Egyptian history?!  So to celebrate today find a book on Egyptian history to learn more!

King Tut day? That one even exists makes me happy on such a deep level. I smell an excuse for a nerdy historian party for next year... haha

That's cool! I went to see the King Tut exhibit in Atlanta last year; it was incredible. We got to see King Tut's wives' sarcophogi, beds with woven flax "mattresses" (still almost completely intact!) and the most amazingly intricate jewelry, gold inlaid with all kinds of semiprecious stones. Thanks for bringing back the memory! :)
